What are the different Patron Forms

There are several patron forms used to create and maintain the details of a patron's account.

The first form we all see is the login form. If you will be using SAML authentication, there's no need to edit this form as your patrons will log in with your institutional portal. If you are using LDAP authentication you can add a couple of optional fields to allow for multiple domains and to allow non-LDAP users to log in.

The text and field labels can all be changed to provide your patrons with instructions.

The InternalID field is for the patron's username - you can give it a label of whatever is helpful for your login setup. Library card number of university login...

The Remember Me checkbox should generally include some instructions about not using this option on a public computer.

If Clio is maintaining the login details for patrons you will also see 'create account' and 'forgot password' links.

Create Account

Only applicable if you are going to have Clio maintain patron passwords (if you're not using LDAP or SAML).

You can edit the text and labels on this form - where people choose their username and password - but the structure of the form is largely fixed.

Forgot Password

Only applicable if you are going to have Clio maintain patron passwords (if you're not using LDAP or SAML).

You can edit the text and labels on this form - where people ask for a new password to be emailed to them - but the structure of the form is largely fixed.

FillInDetails

When a patron logs into Clio for the first time, regardless of which authentication method you use, Clio will ask the patron to fill in their account details on this form.

Include form fields (more info here) for each piece of information you want to have the patron enter - name, email, etc.

Do not include the InternalID field, as that has already been created during the login process.

You probably also want to include some text about your privacy policy and information retention policy. (For any library with patrons who are EU residents that is especially important) This can be the full text of your policy or a link to your university's policy documents.

ManageDetails

The Manage Details form will likely look similar to the FillInDetails form as it's the place where patrons can update their account details in the future. However many libraries prefer to restrict the ability to edit some fields (status or supervisor) after the patron record has been created and vetted. In those cases libraries either remove those fields from the Manage Details form or display them as Read Only fields.
